The 2020-21 hockey calendar has been a tough one for scouting due to the pandemic. Scouts have been limited to watching video, and have only been allowed in to watch games in a handful of markets in certain leagues.
I was hoping to release multiple rankings from September/October 2020 to July 2021 when the draft is being held, but with certain leagues not running (OHL), and some leagues only playing a certain number of games (QMJHL/WHL) it’s been hard to even construct a list.
I’ve tried my hardest to watch game clips on as many 2021 draft eligible prospects as I can, and thankfully, some of them we’re at the 2021 World Juniors, so that helped a lot as well.
Based on what I’ve mentioned, I decided to do one list this season. On my list I’ve ranked 15 2021 draft eligible prospects, as well as 2 additional players I’ve put as “Honorable Mentions” who could easily make the top 15. My list will start with the honorable mentions and end with #1. Enjoy!
